Online majlis manners: 8 tips for great voice chats

6 November 2026 · Jakoz Gaming

A real majlis has its customs: you greet when you enter, you let elders speak, you keep the coffee coming. An online majlis is no different. These eight habits make a voice room somewhere people want to return to.

1. Greet when you join

A quick “Salam alaikum” or “Hi all” tells everyone you are there and sets a friendly tone.

2. Use earphones in noisy places

Earphones stop echo and keep the TV, traffic and kitchen out of everyone else’s ears.

3. Mute when you step away

Tap the mic to mute while you order food or answer the door. Unmute when you are back.

4. Take turns

Voice rooms get messy when three people talk at once. Pause before you speak and let the quieter people in.

5. Welcome newcomers

Introduce new people to the group and explain the game you are playing. Everyone was new once.

6. Keep it respectful

Banter is part of the fun, but avoid insults, politics and religion arguments. The host can mute anyone, and everyone can block and report.

7. Respect privacy

Do not record or share what others say without asking. Jakoz itself never records voice.

8. Say goodbye

A quick “Good night, see you Thursday” keeps the group together for next time.

Are Majlis voice chats recorded?

No. Voice goes directly between phones (or through a secure relay) and is never recorded or stored.
